Ahmed RENDJA was born on 14 July 1942 to Khaled and Hanifa bent Taftifa, into a wealthy family living in Zinqat Ennawar in the city center.
His financial situation allowed him to attend the French school, where he outperformed the children of the settlers and was among the top students who earned the end-of-studies certificate with full merit.
His mind was always preoccupied with the situation his country was living through, which led him to leave school and join the FLN and National Liberation Army in 1958.
Ahmed rose up against the occupation, despite being a young man surrounded by comfort. His family was very wealthy, and his father owned many properties: baths, factories… He could have continued his studies and obtained the highest degrees, or managed his family’s numerous properties. But he could not accept enjoying comfort while his country was under colonial rule. He continued fighting until he stood in the field of honor in 1959.
