Mohamed Tobal

Biography

Mohamed Tobal was born on September 9, 1945, in Blida, in a neighborhood called El-Djoun. He grew up in a unique atmosphere surrounded by prominent national musical figures such as Cheikh Dahmane Benachour, Hadj Mahfoud, Mustapha Benguergoura, Abderrahmane Aziz, Rabah Driassa, Rachid Nouni, and Abdelkader Guessoum.

His first radio recording took place in 1972, during which he performed three poetic pieces: “Limta Yahna Qalbi” by the popular poet Mohamed Bensahla, “Sidi Berka mnel Djfa” by Said Benabdellah El-Mendassi, and “Fi Qalbi Koul Ferha” by the poet Sidi Lakhdar Benkhelouf.

Throughout his artistic career, he produced an album titled “Ki Kenet El-Blida Bessouar ou Bibane”, written by Omar El-Ghribi, as well as “Ya Dho Ayani” by Mohamed Ben M’Sayeb and “Hasrah ala Zmene” in the Hawzi musical style.

Mohamed Tobal passed away from cardiac arrest on Friday, July 31, 1993, at the age of 47, in Hydra (Algiers), surrounded by his friends and fellow artists during a musical afternoon he was performing in alongside the late Rachid Nouni.
