Early Life
The Algerian singer Saloua, may she rest in peace, was born Fettouma Lemitti in Blida in 1941.
Career Beginnings
She began her career in 1952 as a radio host on Algerian radio, working on a children’s program. Later, she moved to Paris. There, in 1960, she hosted a women’s program.
Turning to Music
Her life changed after meeting Missoum, a revolutionary singer. His influence inspired her to leave radio and dedicate herself entirely to music, following in the footsteps of Fadila Dziriya. Many of her records were released under Pathé-Marconi, achieving great success.
