2025 Trail Chrea (Blida Trail): The Race of Champions Returns
The 4th edition of the 2025 Trail Chréa, also known as the Blida Trail and the Race of Champions, is set to offer an exciting challenge for trail runners.
During a press conference at the Association of Correspondents and Journalists of Blida, Ahmed Chahmi, president of the Gravir Association, shared details about the event. He explained that this year’s race will follow a 24 km route through the scenic Chréa region, in coordination with the Local Directorate of Youth and Sports (DJS).
Growing Participation
A total of 535 runners from 27 wilayas are expected to join the race. For the first time, athletes from Tunisia and Belgium will also compete, giving the event an international dimension. Registration is still open.
Race Route
The trail will start at Chréa Square. It will pass through El Kestel Forest, Krisinia Square, and the Tabainet road before looping back to the starting point. The course offers a mix of forests, viewpoints, and mountain paths.
Categories and Activities
The competition includes five age categories:
- 18–30
- 40–49
- 50–59
- 60–69
- 70 and above
In addition, a 5 km corporate trail will welcome employees from local companies and institutions. A children’s race will also take place to encourage young participants to explore mountain sports.
A Celebration of Sport and Nature
The event will end with an award ceremony for the winners. According to Chahmi, the Trail Chréa aims to promote local tourism, showcase the cultural heritage of the Blidean Atlas, and inspire more citizens to enjoy mountain sports.
He noted that the organizers have prepared all the necessary resources to ensure a smooth event. Participation continues to rise each year, with 287 runners taking part in 2023. Chahmi encouraged residents to attend and help create a festive and friendly atmosphere.
