Zoulikha Boukhalfa felt deep pride in her past. During Algeria’s War of Independence, she hid weapons, fed the moudjahidine, and guided them with steady courage. She also misled French soldiers whenever danger grew close. Her husband, Boualem, faced arrest and brutal torture, yet he refused to betray his comrades. He survived the ordeal and even recovered from a serious heart problem, a result many saw as miraculous.
